Ways to Give

There are many ways to give. When you donate to United Way of Southern Chester County, you help fund the signature programs of the community organizations who are working to make life better for EVERYONE in our region.

We offer a variety of options for you to make an impact through your giving, whether through your employer, the web, a planned gift, or a donation of stock.

You determine which method works best for you - see options below.

***New for 2026 – due to recent Federal tax rule changes***

For donors who do not itemize: Great news! There is a new charitable deduction for nonitemizers. Starting in 2026, nonitemizers can deduct

up to $1,000 (single) or $2,000 (married filing jointly) in cash gifts to public charities each year. Please note that the charitable deduction is for cash gifts to public charities. It does not include DAF contributions for those who do not itemize.

For donors who do not itemize: Please consider donating $84/month for a single filer or $167/month for a married filing jointly filer for your charitable deduction!

For donors who itemize deductions: There is a new 0.5% floor. Only the part of your annual giving above 0.5% of your adjusted gross

income (AGI) is deductible.

Example: At $600,000 AGI, your first $3,000 in giving won’t create a deduction; above that, your stock-plus-cash mix works well. If you want to provide steady program support and still be tax-smart, a DAF can let you bunch contributions in some years and keep grants to us on your usual schedule.

For itemizers: To maximize your tax benefit, consider bunching your giving: combining multiple years of donations into one. Or you could use appreciated assets to be efficient.  To learn more about making a stock gift please click here

Please note that this is general information for your planning and work with donors and is not legal or tax advice. Please consult a professional advisor for how these changes impact your situation.
